Sound for Animation - Justin Tortorella

Image
Sound  This is my audio file for the sound of the animation you may have seen. I used a music production software called FL Studio. I played some melodic piano chords as well as used some real-life sound effects like the iPhone alarm, shower, etc. I EQ'd the sounds so they were overpowering the main piano. I love the ambiance of the sound and how the final product turned out.

Final Animation Project - Justin Tortorella

Image
Animation Project My final Animation project was quite the challenge. This took me over 30 hours and about 2 sleepless nights. It was very interesting how I was able to animate a whole stop motion inspired film in photoshop. I decided to do it in black and white because I felt it was more proper for the style and story of the video I was filming. It ended up being a lot cooler and more interesting than I imagined.

Autoscopy - Justin Tortorella

Image
Autoscopy   My autoscopy was one of my favorite assignments as well. It was a little bit of a challenge to force myself to make the meaning of my piece very personal, but I think it worked to my benefit and turned out amazing. Below are some different variations of the final piece. I messed around with some filters and different color restrictions which resulted in some very cool patterns. Each piece is different in its own way. Personally, I think the raw final piece with no filter is my favorite.  Original Image *Final Image* Edited Color Palet 8 Color Restriction Added Filter Edited Rainbow Color Palet 4 Color Restriction with the Primary Color as Blue

Multiplicity - Justin Tortorella

Image
Multiplicity Project  This was by far my favorite project we worked on. For this project, we had to place 6 different versions of ourselves in the same picture as if we were all there together. Despite the rush, changing outfits, and the running around, this was super fun to do. I attempted to change the focus and task of each "different" person in the image and I think I successfully did that. I have labeled each task that each different version of me was doing below. Suspension work Random bystander Engine work Waxing the door Taking a picture Trunk adjustments The final image turned out awesome!  Final Image

Somewhere - 11.22.63 - Justin Tortorella

Somewhere  Original Unedited  11.22.63 scene screenshot This is my somewhere project. My task was to place myself in a scene of a show or movie. I chose the series 11.22.63 as it is my favorite show. I placed myself walking next to James Franco in the first episode as I felt the movement would challenge me more than just a still image. I added blur effects to my arm to simulate the motion in the image as well as color correction and other minor editing. This was definitely a fun project that forced me to step out of my comfort zone and I think it came out awesome.    Final Image

B&W to Color - Justin Tortorella

Image
B&W to Color  Original  This is my B&W to Color project where I took one picture and converted it into 3 different colorized pictures using 3 different color pallets. I made the mistake of letting my hair flow out of my hat which in turn resulted in some sloppy lines around my hairline. I like the color palletes I chose and they are each unique in their own way.

Retro Poster - Justin Tortorella

Original Image Color Palet Final Project This retro poster recreation piece is focused on suicide prevention. I chose this topic because I have close friends and relatives who deal with very crippling depression and I have had to deal with a loved one passing away from this issue. The metaphor of "Target Practice" relates to the aspect of committing suicide as the target is always on yourself. I decided to include the suicide prevention phone number as part of the piece urging those who have trouble with suicidal thoughts to call and get help. Overall I like how this piece turned out and the meaning behind it.
